You will arrive at the Frankfurt International Airport and be met by your Classic World Adventure Hosts; Joachim and Ulrike. They will transport you by motor car to the Stromberg in the Hunsruck a magnificent Relais & Chateau property of "Johann Lafer" The Hotel Stromberg-Lafer is a completely restored castle offering the finest in accommodation, cuisine, and guest services. You will enjoy a leisurly lunch, and then choose to enjoy a relaxing afternoon, or if you wish, take in a tour of this Rhineland village. You will complete the days events with a memorable gourmet dinner served in the Johann Lafer tradition.
A traditional German breakfast is served in the Hotel. Following breakfast, you will be transported by boat over the Rhine to Koblenz. On the water, there are many famous sight seeing points of interest, such as the Lorely, and many other wonderful Castles. (www.festungehrenbreitstein.de) The town of Koblenz is the confluence of the Rhine and Mosel Rivers, known as the "3 Countries Corner". There we sample some of Germany's best wines, take a tour of Koblenz, and return to Stromberg by ship to prepare for a late afternoon hot air balloon flight. We will enjoy a traditional German dinner in the countryside near our place of landing and return to the Hotel Stromberg.
A traditional German breakfast will be served before leaving the hotel. The morning route will take us over the "Hunsruckhohenstrasse" to the Victor's Residenzhotel in the Perl-Nennig in the Mosel River region. We will take a brief tour of "Trier, the oldest city in Europe" ( 30 BC ) on our way. www.uni-trier.de A special lunch featuring regional delicacies, German breads and delicious hand-made pastries will be served in the heart of the historic district. Visits to a variety of museums, historical sites and shopping round out the afternoon. We leave the city and head back into the country to prepare for this afternoon's hot air balloon flight over the Mosel River and Reisling vineyards. As the sun is setting, we will return to the Hotel in time for dinner and call it a day.
This morning we will wake before sunrise, and drive into the Reisling Vineyards of the Mosel region. Our pilot and team will prepare the balloon for a magnificent sunrise launch into the cool morning air. Breakfast, fresh pastries, and German delicacies will be served aboard the balloon while in flight. The scenery, villages, the vineyards, and the Mosel River create a surreal and storybook likeness that can only be appreciated by a low level flight in a hot air balloon.
Following the flight, we will return to the hotel to relax and plan for the afternoon. We will travel by motor car to to the most beautiful city of Luxembourg. World class shopping abounds in the Chemin De La Corniche. Every imaginable European must have item, can be found here. The rest of the day is spent doing as you wish. Shop to your heart's content. Visit a museum or library, attend a wine tasting, or try your luck in the casino. We'll meet at a local French restaurant for a fabulous dinner.
Begin this day gracefully with breakfast served in your room, or on the terrace. Following breakfast, we will tour the Mosel River region, taking in picturesque villages, including Cochem, Zell and the beautiful Eltz Castle. www.burg-eltz.de Lunch is served as we cruise the Mosel River aboard our luxury river ship. We spend the balance of the day sightseeing, visiting souvenir shops, tasting Mosel River wineries specialties, and simply enjoying the ambiance of these beautiful quaint villages. As the afternoon is settling, our team transports us to the countryside for a final low level hot air balloon flight over the villages, with farmers working in the fields, vineyards and the activity of the Mosel region.
We will enjoy a leisurely breakfast, and leave the Hotel by motor car. If time permits, we will have a final visit to the Quaint Village of Rudesheim, one of Germany's most romantic cities, for some last minute gathering of souvenirs and regional wines. We will arrive at the Frankfort International Airport for your departure and bid you a fond - Auf Wiedersehen and; Cheers!
